What is a Dental Prosthetist ?
A dental prosthetist is an oral care professional who has completed extensive training to become firstly a dental technician, who works through a dentist, and finally a dental prosthetist who is registered to consult patients directly. A dental prosthetist is registered to undertake the manufacture of complete dentures, partial dentures and mouthguards.

Every dental prosthetist is registered to practice in the state of Queensland through the Dental Technicians and Dental Prosthetists Registration Board of Queensland.
Why consult with a Dental Prosthetist
By direct consultation, the dental prosthetist will construct and fit dentures or sporting mouthguards will maintain, repair and reline dentures as required by the patient or referring practitioner will personally consult, advise and assist the patient in all relevant aspects of their treatment and where necessary provide a referral to another member of the dental health team.
By dealing directly with a dental prosthetist you are consulting with the person who actually constructs your dentures, your dental prosthetist listens closely and will strive to accommodate your requests from the first impression right through to the final adjustment of the new denture that is perfectly adapted to your mouth and your appearance. Your dental prosthetist is qualified to instruct you on how best to care for your dentures, and when an adjustment or replacement is required.
Will it save you time and money
Yes - Due to the fact that a consultation with a dental prosthetist means you deal directly with the practitioner who personally constructs your dentures or mouthguards.
Why a dental prosthetist should construct your mouthguard
All people who play sport where injury to their teeth is possible should wear a mouthguard. Professional fitted mouthguards greatly reduce the chances of tooth damage or painful laceration of lips and mouth. Children's teeth are particularly vulnerable to sporting injury and parents should insist on the best possible protection which is what an individually designed mouthguard can ensure.
